Paramedic Qualifications and Job Summary

All candidates must be licensed as a WI EMT-Paramedic. Previous Crew Chief experience preferred, along with 2 years EMT field experience. Basic computer skills required. Dane Co. EVOC or equivalent will be needed as soon as class is available. Full-Time positions will work a 24 hour schedule.

APPLICANT PROCESS

Thank you for your interest in the EMT Paramedic positions at Fitch-Rona EMS. We are currently hiring Full Time and LTE Paramedics.

• LTE positions will be used to fill in for full-time staff. We cannot guarantee a set number of hours for LTE staff.
• There will be a written and practical test. Applicants will be notified of future testing dates.

Candidates must be able to be licensed as a WI EMT-P

Items to consider when applying include:

• You must return your completed application including: copies of current CPR and ACLS certification, a copy of your WI Paramedic license and the completed Background Information Disclosure Form. Also, make sure your Driver’s License number is included on Application.
• There will be an oral interview.
• There will be a written and practical test.

  • The written exam is at the Paramedic level.
    • Written exam including multiple choice and essay questions
  • Practical stations for skills assessment
    • IV skills
    • Airway management
    • ACLS scenario

Candidates that successfully complete the written and practical assessment exams will move on to the oral interview process. The interviews will be held during the week at Fitchburg Fire Station #2. A map to the station is included with the "APPLICANT PACKET" downloadable files above.

Fitch-Rona EMS Volunteer Paramedics

The role of the volunteer continues to evolve here at Fitch-Rona EMS.  For many years the service was completely comprised of volunteers.  Today the volunteer positions at Fitch-Rona are filled with students or newly licensed paramedics.  This collaboration provides experience for the volunteer and in turn lends support to the full-time crew.

Participating in the continued development of recently licensed paramedics gives Fitch-Rona an opportunity to enhance the medical skills of these individuals preparing them for full-time positions in services throughout the area. 

Many of our students come from one of the high quality teaching facilities here in Dane County.   We also encourage our local fire department personnel to work with us to cross-train their staff improving interoperability and the individuals career potential.
